Weekly Routine

1 / Test Water

You are looking for:

  1. A sanitizer reading between .05-2ppm

  2. Alkalinity around 100

  3. pH around 7.5

  4. Calcium Hardness 200-400

2 / Adjust if Needed

After testing, adjusting may be required

Adjust in the order of importance above

3 / Shock / Oxidize

Add 2oz of Natures Pure Oxidizer per 250 gallons of spa water.

*A note about oxidizer.

The amount of oxidizer any spa needs is a variable based on use. No bottle can tell you how much to use based on the number of people using the spa each week, the size of the individualss and the frequency they use it.

Oxidizder removes bather waste and how much waste is left behind is the variable.

Heavy use will require more oxidizer. The typical indicators that you are not using enough are cloudy water and foam.

If you experience these, add oxidizer more often each week until the problem subsides.

Monthly

1 / Clean the filter

A dirty filter can casue cloudy water, higher chemical usage, odors and in some cases prevent the spa from operating by generating a "flow" error. Use our Natures Pure Spa Cartidge Cleaner to break down grease and oils that accumulate on the filter to prevent these issues

2 / Clean the cover

Spa covers are another good place for bacteria and mold to hide causing odors. Flip the cover upside down and give it a washing with bleach and water. Pay special attention to the fold in the middle. A zipper is located there to give you access to the inside of the cover. Take a peek inside to make sure nothing funky is growing.

Every 4 Months Drain/Refill

1 / Time to Drain & Refill

The amount of chemicals added and people using the spa will cause a build up requiring higher and higher amounts of sanitizer and oxidizer to overcome it.

While the water may look clear, it is counter productive to continue beyond this point.

This is why almost every maintenance system, including Natures Pure Spa and all other mineral based systems, target their mineral cartridges to last only four months.

2 / Clean the Spa

While the water is out, whipe down the interior to prevent an excessive build up of calcium and other contaminants that dull the finish

3 / Check the Spa for Leaks

Pop the front of the spa cabinet off and take a peek inside. Catching a leak before it becomes a major issue is the goal.

Specifically look at the pump(s) for a leaky shaft seal between the motor and wet end. It is a wear part and WILL go bad eventually requiring repair. Replacing a $15 shaft seal is far cheaper than a new motor or a rotten cabinet (if your spa uses wood.)

4 / Refill and Restart

Restart the Natures Pure Spa program by following the startup directions. You will need a new Natures Pure Spa Mineral Cartidge (part 3) and bottle of Natures Pure Spa Energizer (part 4)

5 / Rotate the Cover

Swap the side you use to get in and out of the tub all the time with the one you dont. This will extend the life of your spa cover.

If your cover is vinyl, treat with Armor All or similar, paying attention to the seams to prevent dry rot of the thread used to sew it.

Yearly

Time to Purge

Plumbing of all types eventually developes a coating of biofilm. Over time, biofilm can restrict water flow, eat at seals and gaskets and shorten the life of some components. Purging the plumbing gets the spa back in shape and ready to go for another year.

BEFORE draining the spa, add a bottle of Natures Pure Spa Purge to the water and circulate with the jets on, air off for at leat one hour to over night. The longer the better the result.

Then drain and refill as normal.
